Plumbing, yes indeed. I my upcoming novel, I have made all restrooms non-gendered after the initial drafts, which meant I had to rewrite multiple scenes or references to make sense. No escaping to the restroom to avoid the opposite gender person. Also, I have a very detailed high school class schedule for each of the main characters (and a map to know between what classes their paths might cross during passing time).
My search history is so bizzare it looks like a bot was randomly typing things in. ‘How do polar bears hunt?’And ‘where would people land on Mars?’ And ‘how to terraform Mars?’
The most outlandish research I did for a writing is probably the time I worked out math of how vaccuums and wind works to get a sci-fi weapon to cause the exact amount of destruction I wanted it to. Yes, I am pretty confident I'm on a government watchlist. 😆
That one isn't published yet. I had been posting it as Facebook notes, but that was over a decade ago and I wasn't very good at writing yet. XD I haven't forgotten that project; it's on my list for the next couple years, as I've found a way to tie it into another series. When it does come out, it will be called Galaxy of Masks.
1. I’d say my love of spreadsheets is more of an obsession… 2. I’ve got your post saved and archived (I haven’t figured out which is better for actually finding again). 3. Thanks!!!
"SUBSTACK: Start another platform (and actually enjoy it)" - enjoying it is so important. I got on LinkedIn for all the wrong reasons and started not liking it. The thing is I've come too far to abandon. I am trying to conjure something (inspo) to get me back there. I love Substack and Medium thus far. May we always enjoy what we are doing.
That does seem to be a good way to live life… My husband often told our boys that if they weren’t enjoying something (mostly in reference to their involvement on a particular sport team) then they should find something else they enjoy doing and do that instead. (Not quit in the middle of something, but don’t re-up for another season…)
Coming late to the party, but just want to say, keeping it real by figuring out plumbing is a critical part of worldbuilding. 👍

Now, there is some variety!

Vacuums and wind?!? Intriguing. Which work is that in? I’d love to read it!

sounds like solid advice to me :)
