Delayed for a reason
Yesterday was the planned release of the free novella, but in the final hours before the release, my publisher and I agreed that, in light of the ongoing injustices and terror campaign being waged by ICE policies, we should stand in solidarity with the nationwide protest and honor the Jan 30th National Shutdown by pausing the release.
While the future world in which Tessa and the others of the Forged series live shows progress in terms of gender identity, renewable energy sources, and concerns for a healthy planet, the pages of Shattered contain a government that is chipping away at personal freedoms to the point of mandatory sterilization, restrictive reproductive rights, and censored media coverage.
Tessa is learning to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves. She would’ve agreed that a delay in the release of Isaiah’s side was necessary.
I am so proud of this companion novella. But holding it for one more day seemed the right thing to do.
