What you missed from 2024
Since more than half of you were not subscribers until after I sent out the newsletter Iβm highlighting this week, I wanted to make sure you saw this fun experiment I conducted. Between July 8th and August 7th, I created flash fiction notes using daily prompts from the king of Microdosing,
of .At the time, I still hadnβt figured out the βidentityβ of my weekly newsletter. I was also feeling a LOT of isolation, as a writer and because of a change in my job. The belief that I was writing to the void was a bit paralyzing.
Then, at the end of June/beginning of July, I took notice of the engagement and camaraderie surrounding the daily prompts. It piqued my interest! So, I hopped on board.
Iβd just come off of a month-long, self-imposed challenge of writing a 30-word poem every day for 30 days. I decided, βWhat the hell! Letβs do another 30-day challenge!β
And so, I started using the daily prompt to spark my creativity.
Success!
Over the 30 days, I wrote 25 flash fiction notes, all set within the world of the FORGED Series. That in and of itself was a gratifying accomplishment.
But you know what was even more uplifting? My compilation at the end of the challenge generated six new subscriptions! (Thanks for joining the fun

A look into the world of the FORGED series
One microdose at a time
What started out as a way to engage with fellow Substackers has turned into a helpful tool during my editing process.
A Favorite
At some point, Iβd made a quip to Miguel complaining that instead of coffee, he should have used tea for a daily prompt, so when he gave βTEAβ as the microdosing word, I had to participate!
Note posted on 7/25/24.
Taking it one step further
The week following the compilation, I explained my reasoning, my process, and the lessons learned. If you are curious about the how and the why (and more), check out this one too! ‡οΈ

This is brilliant!! Iβm going to try to follow the outline you created for yourself with my own twist for January. Thank you!
I love how you turned your isolation and uncertainty into such a productive and engaging challenge. The way youβve used Miguelβs prompts to fuel your creativity and tie it all back into the FORGED Series is very inspiring. The fact that it resulted in six new subscribers is a beautiful bonus, too. Good for you ....
